Young Boy Awake (YBA) is a youth-driven nonprofit empowering Zambia’s boy child through mental health advocacy, education, sports outreach, and mentorship. We work in schools, streets, and communities to awaken purpose, identity, and hope.

Awakened Boy Child

We tell boys it’s okay to speak. Healing begins with awareness.

Mentorship & Life Skills Outreach

YBA runs mentorship sessions in both urban and rural schools, targeting boys with lessons on discipline, identity, career guidance, and personal responsibility. Through relatable discussions and storytelling, we help boys navigate peer pressure, toxic masculinity, and emotional maturity.

Mental Health & Awareness Campaigns

Mental health is often ignored when it comes to boys. YBA tackles this head-on with community-based dialogues, school talks, and social media awareness focused on depression, trauma, anger, and suicide prevention. We partner with professionals and survivors to break the silence.

Sports Development & Career Exposure

YBA uses football and other sports as entry points to inspire discipline and purpose—but we go further. Through training, mentorship, and exposure, we help boys explore a wide range of careers in sports: coaching, fitness, physiotherapy, refereeing, commentary, media, and even sports business.

every boy deserves a shot at purpose

Community

Alongside education, we mobilize support by donating essential items to boys in need including school supplies, sanitary products, clothing, and digital literacy especially in underserved rural areas..
